Pretty P.O.V.: Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream 7-Day Challenge Monday 01 July, 2013
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream’s 7-Day Challenge posits that my manicure will last longer with daily use of this cream. Game on!
I am always up for a challenge, so when Neutrogena posed the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream 7-Day Challenge, I took it on and crushed it. Well, I crushed it in a good way, of course.
The challenge: Get a manicure and then use Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream everyday for seven days and see if my manicure would last longer.
(Day 1: My manicure is simple with a twist.)
The results: Not gonna lie; on first contact, the feel of this hand cream gave me pause. The texture is like ointment; it’s thick and gooey, and I think the word “salve” would be a more appropriate moniker than “cream.” In fact, as part of the product description, it says it’s “glycerin-rich.” Yes, it is. But, as I massaged it into my hands, under my nail edges and over my cuticles, it began to sink in. That first day, I waited through the stickiness, allowing it to penetrate at its leisure. But, on the ensuing days, I would speed up the process if I had somewhere to go or something to do by blotting my hands very gently on a towel after I applied the cream. I found that this cuts the stick quickly.
(Day 5: I added some rhinestone embellishments because I was going to be hanging with some mega-awesome nail artists. Manicure was still going strong.)
After a few days, I noticed that my cuticles were looking a little less unruly; they tend to be on the unkempt side as I constantly forget to apply cuticle oil like a good beauty girl should. And I never nip. It’s a huge no-no, so I just let them grow and then exfoliate them when I remember. Regardless, they looked better. By Day 5, my skin seemed more hydrated, and hence, less old-looking. By Day 7, I had no chips on my manicure, my cuticles seemed to be getting a new lease on life and my skin took on the look that screams, “I don’t need a filter on Instagram!”
(Day 7: Some regrowth showing, but all-in-all, no chips!)
If you tend to have severely chapped skin—as my husband does—Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream can be a godsend. Did it help my manicure last? I believe it did help, though I’ve ended up adapting how I use it. Now, if I want a deep moisturizing treatment, I slather it all over my hands and nails before bed; this way, I can sleep away the stickiness. Or, if I want to apply it during the day, I just rub it into my cuticles and nails, and run out the door.
