Try This: Bold Red Lips for July 4th Wednesday 03 July, 2013
Want a patriotic lip for your July 4th festivities? Try one of these three bold and beautiful looks!
Tomorrow, I am taking my brother and my sister-in-law to Coney Island; they both have never been. And though we will be marveling at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and doing some pretty un-fancy stuff (for example: eating hot dogs, riding rides, chugging beers), I feel I need to wear a killer red lip. It’s the patriotic thing to do.
While I’ll probably be lip-smacking my NARS Matte Velvet Lip Pencil in Dragon Lady (it is my go-to nowadays), there are plenty of red-lip looks that came out of the spring/summer 2013 runways that are perfect to try out for Independence Day. I’ve rounded up three of the best!
Though this Jason Wu lip is an ombré masterpiece created through multiple layers and hues, the finished product is simple enough: a dimensional red with a hint of berry. This is perfect for the woman who loves the idea of red, but doesn’t want to go full-on siren. And you certainly don’t have to use multiple items to achieve the look; Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Scarlet should do the trick.
Lordy, lordy: This is one bright lip! It’s an amazing orange-red that’s matte neon in the very best way. OK, fine: Maybe matte neon orange-red doesn’t feel totally patriotic, but I say if you want to stand out in the sea of July 4th revelers, this Paul Smith lip hue is your best bet. Try out NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave or OCC Lip Tar in Radiate to get the look.
I fell hard for this Prada lip—the little penciled-in highlight on the cupid’s bow just really seals the deal for me. But that red…that red is to die for. A truest-red made for sirens who are seeking some lip action. (Amen!) If you want to buy this color in a tube, try MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo. Always a crowd-pleaser.
There you have it: Three riotous red lip looks to flaunt while you toast the birth of our nation!
