Pretty Peek: NARS Spring 2013 Collection Friday 01 February, 2013
NARS Spring 2013 collection bridges big-time brights with warm and cozy shades.
I’m always giddy over what ultra-saturated hues NARS Cosmetics will debut each season. I mean, who can forget Outremer? When I first laid eyes on that eyeball-vibrating cobalt blue at The Makeup Show, I couldn’t get it out of my head. And of course, for spring, NARS doesn’t disappoint, with a collection that balances it’s brighter moments (Mad Mad World Duo Eyeshadow) with warmer supporting actors (Seduction Blush).
How fitting that the campaign stars ’90s supermodel Stella Tennant; after all, this collection sports a serious ‘90s-esque flair, no?
Of course, I’m drawn to whatever is blue, and the Mad Mad World Duo Eyeshadow boasts a vibrant cyan that’s partnered with a parakeet green. According to Pantone, green is shaping up to be the new world order for color this year (Pantone forecasts the green to go gaga over as “emerald,” but I’m thinking this parakeet shade is so much more fun).
Another brilliant item: Corcovado Soft Touch Shadow Pencil. This silky chubby can brighten the inner corners of the eye or be layered over any of the colors offered in this collection to give them a bit of glistening warmth.
But my absolute favorite piece is the Persia Single Eyeshadow. Hello there! Beyond bright, this matte paprika is so very unexpected for eye designs. Dot it over a warm sable to add a blast of drama to a smoky eye. It’s to die for.
Other items in the collection include: Cythère Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil, Dressed to Kill Lipstick, Bouthan Duo Eyeshadow, Seduction Blush and Disco Inferno Nail Polish, which we featured in the debut issue of Nail It! magazine. (BTW, have you signed up for a subscription to this new consumer nail magazine yet? No? Hop on over to nailtmag.com and do so!)
And, check out the making of the campaign image! So fun and fearless!
