Pretty Peek: Makeup Artist to Madonna Collaborates with Make Up For Ever on Lip Hue Saturday 25 August, 2012

Madonna’s longtime face-painter, makeup artist Gina Brooke, collaborates with Make Up For Ever on the perfect long-lasting red lip hue for the Material Girl’s MDNA tour.
I had the pleasure of featuring mega-makeup artist, Gina Brooke, in my baby, Beauty Etc. Her story is one of falling into makeup, quite by chance, because she was so damned good at doing her own. Now, many years later, she’s the face-painter of one of music’s most iconic women, Madonna. For the Material Girl’s MDNA tour, Gina collaborated with Make Up For Ever to dream up an official lip color. The story goes: Gina fell for MUFE’s Aqua Rouge Fall 2012 collection, a line of lip hues that won’t budge, bleed or wear-off while one is dancing and singing their well-toned tush off. As one is inclined to do when they are madly in love (and have serious clout), Gina rang up (or maybe emailed) MUFE to ask if the brand would consider crafting the ideal red lip color for the MDNA tour.
And so the journey began, and the result is Aqua Rouge #8, a universally flattering, richly pigmented and ultimately sweat-proof red that has the properties of a lip stain (it stains!) and the finish of a gloss.
“My biggest challenge was to find a lip product that was reliable and long-lasting, and knew choosing something from Make Up For Ever’s Aqua range was going to be ideal—especially with a minute and a half for touch-ups between songs,” Gina says. “There’s no room for mistakes. I wanted to come up with a perfect, pure red lip color that would exude confidence and beauty. To me, the shade looks iconic, which is the perfect word to define Madonna and her career.”
Aqua Rouge #8 joins the Fall 2012 collection, which just launched at Sephora.com.
