Pretty P.O.V.: Aveda Nourish-Mint Lip Liner in Barberry Bloom Thursday 08 August, 2013
Aveda Nourish-Mint Lip Liner in Barberry Bloom provides the boldest red-orange hue for lips…ever!
I’m a little mad at myself for not having shared this great find earlier with you when I discovered it, way, way back in early 2013. Luckily, it’s still available online, so I want to give you the scoop on just how brilliant this liner is.
I talk endlessly about my love of matte lips; they’re chic and modern…but they can certainly be a pain in the you-know-what to maintain. Enter Aveda Nourish-Mint Lip Liner in Barberry Bloom. The color of this little liner is insane; so bold and bright, it’s practically blinding. It’s more orange than red, so it can be a bit startling, but it is unusual and gorgeous in it’s own right.
The color is enough to write about, but I’d be short-changing you if I didn’t discuss the pencil’s texture: creamy enough to be tug-free (meaning: It won’t tug at your lips as you glide it across); creamy enough to give you full-coverage in just a single stroke (meaning: No need to layer it). I wear it without anything over top; no gloss, no secondary color, all Barberry Bloom.
Why you too should have no fear: I recognize that orange isn’t everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to lip color, and I can’t blame them; it can be a tough hue to wear (especially if your teeth aren’t ultra-white…coffee drinkers, be warned). So if you are balking at filling in your entire lip with this hue, try this instead: Put on your fave red lipstick and then gently dot Barberry Bloom at the center of your lips only. This will brighten up your lip hue and give you a very subtle, yet totally chic, ombré lip. Or just go all-out like I do and rock Barberry Bloom alone, in all it’s glory. It pairs great with a faux tan, rosy cheeks and a light wash of copper shadow across the eyes.
