Event Space: Make Up For Ever Make Up Bag Remix Tour Tuesday 22 January, 2013
Does your makeup bag contain beauty items you’ve never used because you don’t know how they work for you? Make Up For Ever’s Make Up Bag Remix Tour aims to right this wrong with one-on-one education at a city near you!
One of my bestest best friends in the world shirks makeup because she doesn’t quite know how to use it. Liquid eyeliner? Forget it. Darker eye shadows. No way! Deep lip hues. You’ve got to be crazy. And yet, because she’s friends with me—hoarder of all makeup—I’ve unloaded onto her a few choice items here and there with the hopes that she’ll start using them. She hardly ever does. Why? Because she doesn’t know how to apply them.
Now you’re probably saying, “Karie: That is just downright rude of you to give your friend, who has admitted a slight handicap when it comes to makeup, items that you want her to use, but then not teaching her how to use them properly!” I’d agree wholeheartedly with you on that. My guilt is pretty high. I have done some outreach here and there, but I’ve shirked my bestest friend beauty duties. I’ll get on that.
My friend is not alone. So many women own makeup items that they don’t know how use. Often, they sit down in the makeup chair at their local department store beauty counter, and they give themselves over to the face-painter. She may or may not explain to them what she’s doing. She sells these women the items; they walk away confident. Then…with tube/brush/jar in hand, they realize they have no clue how to use their newly-purchased products. What now? Well, it’s safe to say they simply don’t wear them, and these “gotta have it” items just became “why’d I buy this” ones, destined to clutter their makeup bags for no good reason. Sad, really.
(Actress Christina Ricci designed this limited edition makeup bag especially for the Make Up For Ever Make Up Bag Remix Tour.)
What if someone could take your makeup bag and teach you how to use its contents? And what if that someone was part of one of the most innovative, technique-oriented makeup brands out there? Well, lucky you! Make Up For Ever is debuting its first Make Up Bag Remix Tour, in which the brand hits the road, stopping in nine cities in the U.S. and Canada to bring education to consumers in an engaging way. The idea is to teach you how to do your makeup yourself, not simply have it applied by a pro. At this mobile makeup mecca, you’re invited to bring your own makeup bag—contents included!—to have a team of professional Make Up For Ever artists assess and teach you how to truly use those items. It doesn’t matter what brands you currently hoard; Make Up For Ever doesn’t care—this team simply wants to give you an honest breakdown and raise your level of makeup mastery. That being said: Don’t be surprised if a few of your unused items get the boot. “Remixing” your makeup bag also means overhauling it, and if some products don’t have the right texture or hue for your skin, well, then—sayonara!
What else do you get from the Make Up Bag Remix Tour other than great beauty advice? A custom face chart outlining your new look (with details about how to use all of your items), a new Christina Ricci-designed makeup bag (yes, the starlet designed a cool makeup bag that she says “actually holds everything you need on-the-go”) and a professional “after” picture of your new look to be shared on Facebook.
