If only my birthday party brought the best of this world under one roof: a clutch of high-end beauty products and, naturally, heaps upon heaps of sweets…and some champagne! But, alas, the dream birthday party I am alluding to was not for yours truly; rather, it was to fete gorgeous, emerald-eyed actress Amanda Seyfried, who enjoyed ringing in her 26th birthday at a party thrown by luxe Japanese beauty line Clé de Peau Beauté, of which Amanda is the fresh-faced ambassador.
As Seyfried held court in a mosaic, ’20s-inspired Alberta Ferretti dress and glittery Jimmy Choo heels, it was strikingly clear to, well, everyone, why Clé de Peau chose her as the enviable face and very embodiment of its line. “I’ve never been a spokesperson for anything in my life,” Seyfried shares. “But the last year and a half [working with Clé de Peau] has been a great journey, and I’m having so much fun.”
Another brand’s loss is Clé de Peau’s gain as they position themselves as the go-to skin and makeup line for women who want luxurious products that not only deliver fast results, but do so in the form of a simple, “curated” regimen. Already garnering industry recognition with their much-raved-about concealer (a favorite of Miss Seyfried, along with the brand’s Mascara and Gentle Protective Emulsion), Clé de Peau is looking to deliver even more beauty with a Spring 2012 collection of color cosmetics dreamed-up by Fashion Week mainstay and Clé de Peau Beauté Makeup Creative Director Lucia Pieroni. Her current wave of inspiration for the “Le Maquillage Couleur” collection: chocolates, candlelight, pearlescent conch shells, Chantilly cream…and more chocolates. (Undoubtedly the reason I’m surrounded by tables topped with every tempting candy imaginable at this party!)
Sprinkled among three floors (yes, floors!) of sweetastic tarts, ruffled cakes, and MarieBelle delights, you could find a new beauty discovery, such as skin-brightening Luminizing Face Enhancers, 20 new Lip Luminizer shades (Plum Pudding a favorite!), and Clé de Peau’s very first foray into UV/sunscreen protection, UV Protection Cream SPF 50, being the clear standouts.
Not only does Clé de Peau know good sweets, their brand ambassadors also know that it’s “sweet science” that ultimately makes this beauty line an industry player. Clé de Peau’s Illuminating Complex technology, which forms the base of their skincare line, is a thread that the company extends to its makeup. The end game: Each product should meet a client’s beauty and sensory expectations while also delivering therapeutic, preventative and skin-enhancing benefits. Clé de Peau Beauté’s philosophy that the ultra-beautiful should also be ultra-nourishing is one we can get on board with!
Clé de Peau’s UV Protection Cream SPF 50 and Brightening Serum Supreme will launch in February, followed by their Spring 2012 Color Collection, “Le Maquillage Couleur,” in March. Just take a jaunt to Neiman Marcus, Barneys, and Saks Fifth Avenue come springtime. —Morena Vattuone
