Beauty Mark: YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain Video Thursday 08 March, 2012
A new animated video for YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain highlights the magic that goes into making a lip product that acts as lipstick, lip gloss and lip stain. That’s a lot of lip.
Sometimes you try to envision something that is seemingly perfect as even more perfect. You try to round it out more fully—to make it your ideal. That’s the human way, isn’t it? Nothing is good enough. It just needs a little more jooj, a little more spice. Like, my cat, Gizmo: He’s the bee’s knees, a sweet little fella…but couldn’t he be more of lap cat? (This is a sore subject in our family.) Now don’t get me wrong: I don’t think this perpetual seeking of betterment is a bad thing—though being contented with the status quo is certainly easier. But in the pursuit of perfection—especially in beauty products—there are benefits to be reaped. In fact, where would beauty products be if we weren’t constantly trying to one-up the last formulation? (I’ll tell you where: We’d still be wearing Vaseline and coal on our lashes, ladies.)
So YSL Beauty has turned up the innovating to give us beauty idealists out there Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain, a lip product that isn’t merely one thing, but rather all things. Yes, this little tube combines the characteristics of a lipstick (rich pigment), lip gloss (high shine) and lip stain (long-lasting)—all in one formula. To drum up interest for it, YSL put together an animated film that speaks to the whimsy of how this zenith lip color is formed (magically!) and how women everywhere will want it to cross their lips.
And I also slipped in a behind-the-scenes video of Ginta Lapina’s shoot for the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain campaign imagery!
What do you think? Can a lip product be all things wrapped into one?
