Beauty Mark: Chanel Mirror, Mirror Video Tuesday 03 July, 2012

A new video by Chanel’s Peter Phillips is a psychedelic trip through mirrored faces, third eyes and beautiful lips painted in the new Chanel Rouge Allure Lipsticks, out in fall.
First, Chanel creative director of makeup Peter Phillips adhered the most show-stopping jewel-encrusted arches on models’ brows for the Chanel Fall 2012 show; now, the baubles have migrated, covering every last inch of model Inguna Butane‘s face for the video Mirror, Mirror. The video is an homage to Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick, which will be adding 16 new hues for fall (available in September), four of which are featured in the video.
And what of that mirrored face (which took three hours to painstakingly apply)? Philips found inspiration in a mirror-embellished coat from Chanel’s Paris-Bombay pre-fall show, and from there the looking glass, third eye and music fell into place. He tells Style.com of his choice to have this mirrored beaut in motion, rather than a static image: “A sparkle is more than just one frozen moment. It’s a chain of images, because it moves, like a firework. And that’s something you can only see in film or in real life.”
What do you think of Peter’s mirrored vision?
